Farid Sadikhli (55 kg), the Greco-Roman wrestler from Azerbaijan who won a silver medal at the U-23 European Championship in Zrenjanin, Serbia, will try not to repeat his mistakes at the upcoming World Championship.
Idman.Biz reports that the wrestler said this after the final match.
He said that he could not win a gold medal because he made some mistakes:
"I missed the gold medal because of some reasons and shortcomings. Our score was equal - 3:3. But I made some mistakes. I hope that I will win in the next match with this opponent. The World Championship is coming up. I will try not to repeat my mistakes."
The athlete shared his impressions about his journey in the European Championship with report.az:
"I prepared well for the competition. My first opponent was from the Czech Republic. I won a clean victory over him. In the meeting with the Romanian athlete, although I was behind in the score, I later defeated him with a "touché". In the semi-final, I eliminated the Georgian athlete and reached the final."
F.Sadikhli spoke about his next goals:
"My next goal is the U-23 World Championship. I believe that I will win a gold medal. Here, I fought head-to-head only with the Russian athlete among my European rivals. I don't know who will come from Asia. But I will try to defeat all my rivals."
It should be noted that Farid Sadikhli lost to Russian Alibek Amirov in the final of the European Championship.
