Members of the Azerbaijani U-17 freestyle wrestling team will compete for three more medals at the European Championship held in Samokov, Bulgaria.
Idman.Biz reports that Ibrahim Hasanov, competing in the 51 kg weight category, will reach the final match. He defeated Ukrainian Bogdan Kazakov 10:0, Russian Khalid Songurbekov 12:0, and Belarusian Yanis Shapartau 10:0 to advance to the decisive stage. His opponent in the final will be Turkish Muhammed Gölha.
In the 45 kg weight category, Tunar Hasanov will wrestle for a bronze medal. Although he defeated Georgian Mkrtich Janamyan 3:2 in the first match, he lost to Ukrainian Marko Kvasniuk in the quarter-finals. Hasanov will face Turkish Buğra Eldemir in the match for third place.
In the 92 kg weight category, Elgun Karimli will continue the fight in the consolation match. The Azerbaijani wrestler defeated Armenian Artur Mkrtchyan 8:0 at the start, but lost to Russian Abdurazak Shabanov 4:15 in the quarter-finals. He will face Belarusian Timur Mirzayev in the consolation stage.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team has won 13 medals so far in the tournament. The team has three gold, four silver and six bronze awards in its assets.
