The U20 World Championship continues in Samokov, Bulgaria.
"Report" informs that Aykhan Javadov (60 kg) won a gold medal on the sixth day of the competition.
Our wrestler faced Armenian Yurik Mkhitaryan in the final. Javadov, who trailed 3:5 at the break, showed determination in the second half and won convincingly – 12:5. Thus, Aykhan became our first world champion in this competition. Our Greco-Roman wrestler, who was the world and European champion in the U17 age group last year, achieved the same success this year in the U20 age group.
Elmin Aliyev (82 kg) lost to Uzbek Azimzhan Soatullayev (0:8) in the consolation match, while Zahra Karimzade (72 kg) lost to Russian U23 European champion Kristina Bratchikova (fall).
It should be noted that the number of our medals at the World Championship has reached 6. Earlier, Ruzanna Mammadova (62 kg) won silver, and Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg), Vasif Bagirov (57 kg), Nurlan Aghazade (70 kg) and Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) won bronze medals.
