Kazakhstani Yevgeniy Fedorov, the winner of the second stage of the "Baku-Khankendi" international cycling tour held in Azerbaijan, shared his thoughts after the race.
According to Idman.Biz, the member of the "Astana" team stated that the stage was quite tense.
The cyclist emphasized that a high pace was felt from the beginning of the race:
"I thank all the organizers. There was serious activity at the beginning of the race. The main goal for our team was for one of the members to win. It was not so important for me to take first place."
Fedorov also noted that the ascents posed the most difficulty for him in the second stage. The Kazakh athlete added that he will continue to fight in the upcoming stages as well.
It should be noted that Alexey Shnirko, a Belarusian member of the Chinese "Li-Ning Star" team, crossed the finish line first in the first stage of the race held in the Baku-Sumgayit direction.
24 teams representing 20 countries of the world are participating in the UCI 2.1 category race. The prize fund of the five-stage tournament is more than 50 thousand euros. The competition will end on May 14.
The final stage of the tournament will be held in the city of Khankendi.
