A closed round table on "Prospects of interagency cooperation in the fight against prohibited substances" was held with the organization of the Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency (AMADA).
Idman.Biz was informed by AMADA that the event was attended by government officials, representatives of law enforcement agencies, heads of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and anti-doping organizations of various countries, as well as international experts.
At the opening ceremony, Elnur Mammadov, Head of the Sports Department of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, emphasized the importance of the round table and stated that strengthening institutional cooperation in the fight against prohibited substances is of particular importance in the face of current challenges. Holding the event within the framework of the State Program creates significant opportunities for further strengthening coordination and information exchange between government agencies, law enforcement agencies and international partners. Effective cooperation in the field of anti-doping not only serves to protect the principle of fairness in sports, but also plays an important role in promoting a healthy lifestyle in society.
Then, the executive director of AMADA, Tahmina Taghi-zade, said that the round table will make an important contribution to increasing the sustainability and effectiveness of the anti-doping system in our country. She emphasized that the issues arising from the State Program are of great importance in terms of moving cooperation between state institutions, law enforcement structures and international anti-doping institutions to a new stage. AMADA will continue its activities in the direction of expanding information and investigation exchange, proactive management of risks, as well as strengthening cooperation based on mutual trust.
In the next part of the round table, Mathieu Holz, Head of the Investigation Department of WADA, Lars Mortsiefer, Chairman of the Executive Board of the German National Anti-Doping Agency, Hubert Dziudzik, Deputy Director of the Polish Anti-Doping Agency, Niall Murphy, General Manager of the Risk and Investigation Department of "Sportradar" and others spoke and shared their views on the cooperation mechanisms of the supreme anti-doping body with local law enforcement agencies and governments, existing international practices, strengthening investigation and information exchange.
During the discussions, special attention was paid to topics such as the prevention of illegal trafficking of narcotic and psychotropic substances, strengthening awareness-raising efforts to protect young people from harmful effects, the importance of mutual experience and information exchange, and the establishment of an international anti-doping education center.
At the end of the event, ideas were exchanged on investigation in anti-doping, strengthening testing, promotion of clean sports, protection of young people from harmful habits and development of partnership in this direction, and the importance of further expanding AMADA's cooperation with relevant government agencies was emphasized.
