The opening ceremony of the international handball tournament dedicated to the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was held in Azerbaijan.
The press service of the Azerbaijan Handball Federation told "Report" about this.
Orkhan Abbasov, vice-president of AHF, who conveyed the greetings of the president of the Azerbaijan Handball Federation, Saleh Mammadov, to the participants at the opening ceremony of the competition, spoke about the importance of the traditional tournament and said that it is a moral duty to commemorate the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
Stating that the policy of the National Leader is successfully continued today, Orkhan Abbasov emphasized that the worthy representation of Azerbaijani sports in the world arena is the result of the attention and care shown by the head of state, Mr. Ilham Aliyev. The federation official expressed his gratitude to the teams of brotherly countries for accepting the offer and wished the participants success.
After the national anthem was played, a video about the life and activities of the National Leader was shown. The event ended with an artistic part.
It should be noted that the tournament, which started today, will end on September 3.
