"Everything went relatively smoothly for us in the final".
Idman.Biz reports that these words were said by Marco Manenti, the cyclist of the Italian "Bardiani CSF 7 Saber" team, the winner of the fourth stage of the "Baku-Khankendi" Azerbaijan cycling tour.
The 25-year-old athlete emphasized the great contribution of his teammates to the victory:
"Our team's sports director believed in me, and my teammates trusted me. This victory is the work of the whole team. There was a short climb in the final part. There were few sprinters in the leading group, and I tried to take advantage of that. With the support of my teammates, I made a successful sprint to the finish line."
It should be noted that the winner of the third stage of the cycling tour Gabala-Ismayilli was the Russian member of the Kazakhstan "XDS Astana" team, Gleb Suritsa. The winner of the second stage of Baku-Ismayilli was Yevgeny Fedorov, a cyclist of the Kazakhstan "XDS Astana" World Tour team. The winner of the first stage of the Baku-Sumgayit race was Alexey Shnirko, a Belarusian member of the Chinese "Li-Ning Star" team.
It should be reminded that 24 teams representing 20 countries of the world participate in the UCI 2.1 category competition. The prize fund of the five-stage tournament is more than 50 thousand euros. The competition will end on May 14. The final stage of the tournament will be held in Khankendi.
