The "Baku-Khankendi" cycling race, a 2.1 category event of the International Cycling Union (UCI), has concluded with a final concert program.
Idman.Biz reports that the closing ceremony of the race, which started from Baku and ended in Khankendi, was organized with the participation of art representatives.
In the last, fifth stage, athletes covered a distance of 181.5 kilometers on the Tartar-Agdam-Fuzuli-Shusha-Khankendi route. This mountainous and challenging stage was memorable for the solo attack by Josh Barnett, a member of the Spanish team "Burgos Burpellet PH". He finished first in 4 hours, 16 minutes, and 35 seconds. Henok Mulubrhan from the "XDS Astana" World Tour team of Kazakhstan took second place and was on the podium again after the 4th stage. The top three was completed by another cyclist from "Burgos Burpellet PH", Erik Antonio Fagundes.
The results of the last stage also changed the overall standings. Josh Barnett, the winner of the day, rose to the leadership and became the owner of the blue jersey. In the overall standings, Henok Mulubrhan is second, and Aleksandr Balmer, a member of the Italian "Solution Tech NIPPO Rali" team, is in third place.
Mulubrhan also won the green jersey for the best sprinter, presented by "Sea Breeze". Lennert Tögelz from the Belgian team "Tarteletto-Isorex" won the leadership form in the mountains - the red jersey. Iker Gomez, a member of the Spanish team "Equipo Kern Pharma", retained the white jersey, which is awarded to the best young athlete and awarded by "Azvirt".
In the team standings, "Burgos Burpellet PH" took first place. They were followed by the Italian team "Bardiani CSF Faizanè" in second place and the Spanish team "Equipo Kern Pharma" in third place.
At the award ceremony, the winners were presented with awards by Farid Gayibov, Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elchin Yusubov, Special Representative of the President in Khankendi city, Aghdara and Khojali regions, Emin Huseynov, Special Representative for Agdam, Fuzuli and Khojavend, as well as Zaur Akhundov, President of the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation, and Executive Vice President Fikret Huseynov.
