Russian swimmer Nikolai Svechnikov went missing during the "Intercontinental Swimming Race" held in the Bosphorus Strait.
Lent.az reports, citing local media, that more than 2,800 swimmers participated in the race. Svechnikov was the only participant who failed to reach the finish line. According to witnesses, he disappeared approximately 500–600 meters after the start.
It should be noted that the Bosphorus swimming race is held annually. Athletes start from the Asian part of Istanbul and finish in the European part. The distance is 6.5 km.
