The "President's Cup" in rowing will start in Sarsang for the first time. Sport24.az reports that the Azerbaijan Water Sports Federation has released information about this.
It was reported that the "President's Cup 2026" international regatta in rowing and canoeing will be held between April 27 and May 1, jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Water Sports Federation.
More than 100 athletes from Azerbaijan, Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Sweden, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine and Uzbekistan will compete in the regatta dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
The "President's Cup" will start for the first time from the Sarsang reservoir in the liberated Aghdara region. On April 27, Sarsang will host exemplary performances and competitions of athletes in academic, kayak, canoe, dragon boats and sailboats. Scooters carrying the flags of participating countries will circle on the water. At the same time, examples of national music and dance will be demonstrated within the framework of the event. Thus, after Sugovushan and Kondalanchay, the foundation of the rowing tradition will be laid in a new place in Karabakh.
On April 28, the official parade and opening ceremony of the competitions will be held in Mingachevir. At the opening ceremony, which will take place from 18:30, official persons and guests will first visit the monument of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in Mingachevir. Then, the teams will march from Heydar Aliyev Avenue to the "Kur" Olympic Training and Sports Center. After the parade, the official opening ceremony and artistic part will begin in front of the "Kur" Olympic Training and Sports Center. Shows, various dance and music numbers will be demonstrated in the artistic part. The event will continue with live performances by the "Döngə" group. The concert program will end with magnificent fireworks.
On April 29, the competitions will continue in the Sugovushan reservoir, one of the most beautiful corners of Karabakh. The final races of the "President's Cup 2026" international regatta will be held on April 30 - May 1 at the "Kur" Olympic Training and Sports Center in Mingachevir. The regatta will end on May 1.
