The organization of the European Cup in Ganja stimulates the development of judo in the regions.
Idman.Biz reports that this was stated by Rashad Rasul, Executive Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, in a statement to the official website of the European Judo Union.
The official of the organization expressed his views on the European Cup to be held among juniors in Azerbaijan:
"Azerbaijan has been successfully hosting prestigious international judo tournaments for many years. As a result, our country is now recognized as a reliable and professional organizer. With the World Championships among adults to be held in October this year, the attention of the international judo community will once again be focused on Azerbaijan. In this context, the holding of the Junior European Cup in Ganja before the big competition is of particular importance. After the previous tournaments in Goygol and Guba, bringing the competition to Ganja gives an additional impetus to the development of judo in the regions and creates valuable opportunities for our young athletes to gain experience in a high-level international competition environment. Organizing such events in the regions contributes to the widespread dissemination of judo within the country and creates a solid foundation for future success."
It should be noted that 286 judokas from 11 countries will compete in the competition to be held on April 4-5 at the Ganja Sports Palace. In addition to more than 100 athletes from Azerbaijan, judokas from the USA, Turkey, Tajikistan, Portugal, Poland, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Bulgaria and Belarus will participate in the tournament. Immediately after the tournament, on April 6-8, an international training camp for juniors will be held in Ganja.
