The official opening ceremony of the European Judo Cup among cadets was held on April 4 at the Ganja Sports Palace. Sport24.az reports that the event began with the singing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Then the participants and guests were greeted, and the importance of Ganja as one of the cities hosting international sports competitions was emphasized.
It was noted at the opening ceremony that the tournament is organized jointly by the European Judo Union, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Azerbaijan Judo Federation. 269 athletes from 10 countries are competing in the competition.
Patrice Rogniaux, Sports Commissioner of the European Judo Union, Javad Javadov, representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Natig Bagirov, advisor to the president of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, spoke in the official part. The speakers especially noted the state's care for the development of sports in our country, the organization of international competitions in the regions, and the role of such tournaments in the development of young athletes. The speakers wished success to the participants of the competition and expressed their gratitude to all parties involved in organizing the tournament at a high level.
Then an artistic part was presented. The performance of the "Khamsa" rhythm and dance ensemble of the Ganja City Children's Art School added a special color to the ceremony.
It should be noted that the European Cup among cadets, organized in Ganja, will last two days.
