The draw ceremony of the European Judo Cup among juniors was held in Ganja. Sport24.az reports that officials of the European Judo Union (EJU) and the Azerbaijan Judo Federation (ACF) participated in the event.
Speaking at the beginning of the ceremony, Kamran Talibov, Deputy Secretary General and Sports Director of ACF, expressed his sincere gratitude to the EJU, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan, and the Ganja City Executive Authority for their valuable support and effective cooperation in organizing the tournament. He also wished success to all participants.
EJU Sports Commissioner Albert Gmayner greeted the participants on behalf of the organization's president, Laszlo Tot. He emphasized that the tournament is of great importance in the sports career of young judokas and expressed his gratitude to the ACF for the efforts made in organizing the competition.
Frank Oko, EJU's Head Commissioner for Referees, noted that the matches of the Ganja European Cup will be managed by 15 local and international referees.
A total of 269 judokas, including 180 boys and 89 girls from 10 countries, will compete in 16 weight categories in the international tournament. Azerbaijan will be represented in the competition by 127 athletes (92 boys, 35 girls). In addition to our country, judokas from Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Portugal, Tajikistan, Turkey and the USA will also participate in the European Cup.
It should be reminded that the European Cup will be held on April 4-5.
