Azerbaijan will be represented by 19 athletes (10 boys, 9 girls) in 14 weight categories at the European Junior Judo Championship to be held in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia. Sport24.az reports that our team will compete in the mixed team competition on the last day of the tournament.
The judokas will be led by Emin Iskandarov, the head coach of the junior boys' team, coaches Nijat Shikhaliyev and Kotaro Sasaki, Elnur Ismayilov, the head coach of the junior girls' team, and coach Amrah Ahmadov.
Anar Guliyev, Ibrahim Talibov (both 50 kg), Rasul Alizadeh, Mahammadali Huseynov (both 55 kg), Zeyd Alasgarov (60 kg), Ali Humbatov (66 kg), Said Sharifov, Aykhan Hasanli (both 73 kg), Said Huseynov (90 kg) and Tunar Farzaliyev (+90 kg) will participate in the boys' competition.
In the girls' competition, Madina Huseynova (40 kg), Gulshan Huseynova (44 kg), Narmin Agamirzazadeh, Leyla Alakbarova (both 48 kg), Aysun Mammadova, Nurana Hajizadeh (both 52 kg), Samaya Yusifli (57 kg), Ayan Aliyeva (63 kg) and Masuma Mammadli (70 kg) will try to take a place on the podium.
Abdullah Rahmatov (81 kg) will only compete on the tatami in team competitions.
Akif Tahirov, a member of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation's panel of judges and an A-category international referee, will ensure justice at the continental championship.
