Our country will host the European Judo Cup among cadets for the fourth time. Sport24.az reports that the competition, which is included in the official calendar of the European Judo Union, will be held on April 4–5 at the Ganja Sports Palace.
Rashad Rasulllu, Executive Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, stated that Azerbaijan has rich experience in organizing international judo competitions:
"Azerbaijan has been successfully hosting prestigious international judo tournaments for many years. In this regard, our country is already recognized as a reliable and professional organizer. The attention of the international judo community will once again be focused on Azerbaijan in connection with the World Championships among adults, which will be held in October this year. The organization of the European Cup among cadets in Ganja before this prestigious competition is of particular importance. Already, 210 athletes from 13 countries have registered for this competition. Holding the tournament in Ganja after Goygol and Guba gives an additional impetus to the development of judo in the regions and creates conditions for our young athletes to gain important experience in a high-level international competitive environment. The organization of such competitions in the regions serves to further popularize judo throughout the country and to form a healthy sports base for future success."
It should be noted that after the tournament, an international training camp for young judokas will be held in Ganja on April 6–8.
