The European Championships in Trampoline Gymnastics and Tumbling, held in Portimao, Portugal, will be remembered for our country with proud moments. Sport24.az reports that Azerbaijan is represented by a total of 23 gymnasts in the youth and adult age categories in this prestigious competition, and our athletes have already managed to show successful results from the first stages.
Based on the results of the qualifying stage, Seljan Mahsudova, Maqsud Mahsudov, Nijat Mirzayev, Huseyn Abbasov, Ammar Bakhshaliyev and Farhad Mustafayev advanced to the semi-final and final stages in the individual program in trampoline gymnastics.
In the team competitions, Farhad Mustafayev, Omar Gasimli, Muhammad Hasanli and Ammar Bakhshaliyev among the youth, and Maqsud Mahsudov, Huseyn Abbasov, Ali Niftaliyev and Mehdi Aliyev among the adults qualified for the final with their successful performances. In the final stage, the adult team finished in 4th place.
Our gymnasts also showed high results in synchronized programs. Among the men, the pairs Ammar Bakhshaliyev - Farhad Mustafayev and Maqsud Mahsudov - Huseyn Abbasov, and in mixed synchronized, Ayan Shabanova and Ibrahim Mustafazade advanced to the next stages.
In double mini-trampoline, Ammar Bakhshaliyev, Omar Gasimli, Muhammad Hasanli and Nikita Kolesnikov qualified for the final in the team competition. Ammar Bakhshaliyev will also compete in the final stage in the individual program.
This championship opens a new page in the history of Azerbaijani gymnastics: for the first time, our gymnasts have managed to reach the final in the team competition in trampoline gymnastics in both youth and adult age categories, as well as in double mini-trampoline among youth.
Successes also continue in tumbling. Mikhail Malkin, Tofig Aliyev, Adil Hajizade and Alexey Karatashov qualified for the final in the team competition. Mikhail Malkin and Tofig Aliyev also took part in the final stage in the individual program. In the final performance, our team won a silver medal, bringing our flag one step closer to the top.
