"This week we will see rhythmic gymnastics in all its beauty, as the European Championship will be held in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia."
Idman.biz reports that this was stated by Farid Gayibov, President of European Gymnastics (EG).
In the "President's Notes" section on the website of the organization he leads, he expressed his confidence that Estonia will organize an event at the European level for the first time and that it will be held at a high level.
Gayibov also spoke about the remarkable events that took place last month and touched upon the European Gymnastics Championships held in Leipzig: "Even after returning home from Leipzig, I remember the gymnastics festivals held in Germany last week with pleasure and pride. The 2025 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships, which brings together people from all over the continent, was organized this year within the framework of the German international gymnastics festival "Das Turnfest". This was a big challenge for the organizer - the German Gymnastics Federation (DTB), and they handled this job masterfully. More than 60,000 people participated in the "Gymnastics for All" part of the "Turnfest" festival, and 301 elite athletes competed for European titles.
This European Championship was remembered for several historical moments. First of all, of course, I would like to mention the introduction of the mixed team final. This format has been tested at the last two European Youth Olympic Festivals and our technical committees have reworked it to meet the expectations of the international television audience. Thanks to the excellent cooperation between presenters, television, sports presentation and competition management, we presented a very interesting and highly appreciated final. The host country immediately wrote its name in history: Karina Schoenmaier and Timo Eder became the first European champions in mixed teams. Germany's successes did not end there: several more victories were achieved in front of their home audience. Congratulations to all the medal winners - you made a mark!
He also spoke about the Rhythmic Gymnastics European Cup: "Two weeks after the event in Baku, the European Cup was held for the second time this year in Burgas, Bulgaria's seaside resort. Israeli Meytal Sumkin and the Hungarian group team won and climbed to the honorary podium in the "Cross Battle" stage, showing how interesting and at the same time unpredictable this format is".
The EG President also spoke about the meeting of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) Council held in Malta: "There, the classification system for the four Olympic types of gymnastics - men's and women's artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampoline gymnastics - for the 2028 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles was approved. The proposed changes to the Technical Regulations and the updating of the Disciplinary Code were also approved".
