The Women in Golf Society (WIGS) has been awarded the "Best Initiative" at the Women in Golf Awards held at Foxhills Golf Club. Presented in partnership with PING, the award reflects the society's growing impact on unifying and supporting women in the golf industry.
Founded by Ali McGuirk from Prince"s Golf Club and Dolores Brown from Golf Breaks, WIGS is a platform designed for women working in golf or looking to build a career in the sector. Using golf as an inclusive networking tool, the initiative empowers members to take up the game, return after a break, or strengthen their positions within the industry.
Through various events, meetings, and online activities, WIGS has fostered a strong community where women can share experiences, discover new opportunities, and build confidence both on and off the course.
Since its inception, the society has organised activations around major tournaments such as the AIG Women"s Open, as well as hosting networking meetings at venues including Prince"s Golf Club, Essendon Golf Club, The Grove, Frilford Heath, and Foxhills Golf Club.
These events bring together women from various areas of the golf industry and career stages, fostering the development of professional connections. For many attendees, these connections have continued beyond the events, leading to mentoring and long-term collaboration opportunities.
WIGS has also supported new players in getting acquainted with golf. Several women have started playing golf for the first time thanks to the society's events.
Off the course, the society reaches a wider audience through podcast appearances and online presentations at universities, encouraging women to explore career opportunities in golf. A recent success story is a job placement at a prestigious golf club in London, a direct result of connections made through WIGS.
Internationally, the initiative collaborates with LINKS Scotland and is represented at the PGA Show in the United States. Women in Golf Society is scheduled to attend the PGA Show again in January 2026.
"This award is a great source of pride and responsibility for us," said Ali McGuirk, founder of WIGS. "Our goal was for women to connect, support, and gain confidence through golf. This recognition, with the support of PING, further motivates us for the stages beyond 2026."
Looking ahead, the Women in Golf Society will expand its UK event calendar in 2026, including the addition of new venues in the northern regions of the country to increase regional reach and participation opportunities.
