President of Mauritania Minifootball Federation says Baku World Championship reminds him of Qatar World Cup – INTERVIEW

Interview of Yakub Doua, President of the Mauritania Minifootball Federation, to AZERTAC

- What can you say about the organization of the World Cup, which Baku is hosting for the first time?

- I knew that Azerbaijan would prepare seriously for this competition. Because your country's team is also one of the teams that claims to be the winner of the tournament. I watched the FIFA World Cup in Qatar live. After arriving in Baku, I saw that a mini version of that World Cup was organized in Azerbaijan. I felt a similarity. The organization is at a better level than my expectations. Everything is ideal.

- We are interested in your opinion about the National Gymnastics Arena where the tournament is held...

- Great conditions have been created here for athletes. I was amazed.

- The Mauritania national team lost to Azerbaijan 0:2 in the last match of the group. How would you comment on that match?

- Based on the result of the game between Bahrain and Slovenia, the other teams in the group, we could have easily faced Azerbaijan in the match. However, Bahrain's victory made our job difficult. Therefore, we went to the field to win. We paid more attention to defense. We are a team that likes to keep the ball more. Unfortunately, we gave the opponent a lot of balls and they scored two goals against us.

- How do you assess the chances of the Azerbaijan national team in the World Championship?

- There are many good teams in the tournament. But the Azerbaijan national team is among the strongest teams. It is true that the team did not fight well in the first match against Bahrain, which may be due to the pressure on them. But in the match against us, they showed that they are capable of a lot.

- Are there any football players you like in the Azerbaijan national team?

- I can single out Elvin Alizadeh and Ramiz Chovdarov. Elvin is a very experienced player. Probably, due to his age, this will be his last tournament.
