"Zira's" becoming the national champion is a significant event for the Azerbaijan Minifootball Federation (AMF).
Idman.Biz reports that the president of the organization, Orkhan Mammadov, said this in a statement to journalists.
The head of AMF recalled that "Zira" became the national champion for the first time in its history.
"This is a significant event for the federation. Because a new team won the title. This shows that minifootball is developing. Also, 16 teams competed in the tournament. Interest in the sport is increasing, and new teams are being created. Our goal is to develop minifootball, build new fields, and ensure that more people are involved in minifootball. I congratulate "Zira" on the victory. There was a tense fight on the field today. The current champion's matches with "Birbasha Baku" are very tense. There is great competition between them. "Zira" is also developing," Mammadov said.
O. Mammadov said that the Azerbaijani minifootball national team is preparing for the European Championship:
"The competition will be held in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Our team has developed, and there are new members. We are sure that the competition in this championship will affect our national team. We will participate in that tournament as the world champion. We want to return to our country with a medal. There will be training camps before this tournament."
