The "Shusha" futsal team started competing in the Premier League from the 2024–2025 season by order of the leadership of the Azerbaijan Futsal Federation. According to Sport24.az, the team is already experiencing a financial crisis.
When it was founded, the federation allocated a certain amount of funds every month for the club's participation in the championship.
In the 2025–2026 season, support for "Shusha"'s performance in the Premier League continued by order of the federation's leadership.
However, since December of last year, there have been serious delays in the allocation of funds. Initially, short-term promises were made regarding payments, but these promises were subsequently extended continuously.
The team consists of both experienced and young futsal players. Despite the limited budget allocated, "Shusha" managed to create a positive image and gain sympathy from the futsal community.
Failure to fulfill financial obligations eventually led to the team's protest. Thus, although they came to the game venue in the last round, the futsal players refused to take the field.
The club states that the problem is only related to the non-payment of the funds promised by the federation for the last three months.
It is noted that although the vice-president of the federation, Elshan Abbasov, was contacted repeatedly regarding the issue, no concrete answer was received regarding when the payments would be made.
Since the vice-president mainly attends the match between "Araz-Nakhchivan" Futsal Club and "Neftchi" SC, it was not possible to meet with him at other matches.
Both "Araz-Nakhchivan" and "Shusha" receive financial support from the federation. However, it is emphasized that although "Araz-Nakhchivan"'s budget is much higher compared to "Shusha", there are no salary delays in that team, while in "Shusha", despite the small budget, payments are not made.
