Formula 1 management is considering making radical changes to next season's schedule. Due to the tense geopolitical situation and the war in the Middle East, the number of races may be reduced to 22.
Threat to Saudi Arabian Tours
According to Lent.az, citing The Telegraph, the holding of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix is in doubt.
The organizers' concern stems from Iran's recent attacks on these countries.
Since the Sakhir and Jeddah races are scheduled for mid-April (specifically the 10-12th and 17-19th of the month, respectively), safety has become a major priority for the league.
Deadline for Decision
Management plans to determine the fate of the Middle East stages within the next month.
The final decision must be made by the end of the Japanese Grand Prix, which will be held on March 29.
If military risks remain high at this stage, races in these countries will be officially canceled.
Possible Alternatives and Season Start
If Bahrain and Saudi Arabia are forced to withdraw from Formula 1, several backup options are available.
* Istanbul (Turkey);
* Portimao (Portugal);
* Imola (Italy).
It should be noted that the 2026 championship will begin in Melbourne, Australia, as planned.
Qualifying races will be held on March 7, and the main race will be held on March 8.
