The start of the 2026 Formula 1 season has been marked by technical difficulties for Red Bull. It has been revealed that the team's new RB22 car is experiencing significant problems with the weight limit.
Idman.Biz, citing Autoracer, reports that the Red Bull car is currently significantly heavier than the established minimum weight limit (768 kg). According to reports, engineers will only be able to fully resolve this problem in 2027, after the introduction of a new chassis.
As a short-term goal, it is planned to reduce the weight of the car by at least 5 kg thanks to the innovations that will be presented at the British Grand Prix.
The weight indicators of this year's cars are as follows:
"Ferrari", "Mercedes" and "Audi" have a lighter weight than the limit and compete with additional weights.
"McLaren" fully complies with the minimum limit.
"Haas" is 1 kg heavier than the specified weight.
"Alpine" has an excess weight of 3 kg.
"Racing Bulls" is 5 kg heavier.
"Cadillac" struggles with 7 kg of excess weight.
"Red Bull" and "Aston Martin" are 10 kg heavier than the limit.
"Williams" is at the bottom of the list with an excess weight of 26 kg.
