Red Bull team's Dutch driver, Max Verstappen, has made surprising statements about his attitude towards "Formula 1". The four-time world champion admitted that he no longer enjoys competing in races as he used to.
Idman.Biz reports with reference to the BBC that the star driver stated that sitting in the car is no longer a pleasant activity for him.
"I like some aspects of Formula 1, especially working with the team. They are like my second family. But when I sit in the car, it's no longer the most enjoyable thing. I try, but it's very difficult," the pilot said.
Verstappen noted that working with maximum effort without enjoyment negatively affects his overall condition:
"I work at 100 percent, but since I don't enjoy what I do, it's not very healthy."
The pilot also spoke about his future plans, emphasizing that he is focusing on other projects, especially GT3 racing:
"I want to develop this direction in the coming years. If I leave Formula 1, it doesn't mean that I will stop enjoying life. I have other interests."
Verstappen concluded by saying that he doesn't need anyone's pity and is confident in his future, adding, "Formula 1 knows how to move on itself."
