Four-time world champion Max Verstappen has stated that he no longer has any hope of winning the championship this season.
Idman.Biz reports that at the Brazilian Grand Prix, the Red Bull driver finished fourth in the sprint, but then struggled in qualifying and dropped out of the race after the first segment.
Verstappen will start today's race in Sao Paulo from 16th place.
"You can forget about the championship. With this starting position, nothing will happen, and with this speed, you need to forget about it. There are many things we need to fix in the car, so we will re-analyze everything tonight and try to find something. But right now, something just isn't working in our car. Something is one hundred percent wrong, and we still don't know how to fix it," Verstappen said.
Verstappen is third in the tournament with 326 points. He is behind two McLaren drivers - Briton Lando Norris (365) and Australian Oscar Piastri (356).
