McLaren driver Lando Norris spoke about the 2025 Formula 1 season, in which he won his first championship title.
Idman.Biz reports that Norris talked about the path that led him to the championship in an interview with the BBC.
"Sometimes I didn't trust myself that much. There were times when Oscar performed better than me, but I wasn't doing so well. Over time, I thought that maybe they were better than me, maybe they were able to be more stable than me, to get more out of the car. Sometimes I just thought it wasn't possible to win. I had to prove that I was wrong, that I could do it. I wouldn't call myself an egoist, but I understood that it was necessary to be one. I need it to be better and stronger.
At the beginning of the season, I couldn't get the most out of the car because it had changed a lot compared to last year. Something inside me told me that I wasn't good enough.
Andrea Stella, who has seen a lot in Formula 1, helped me. He told me that I had to demand more from others, to say that I needed this or that more, to ask them for help. In those moments when I couldn't cope, it just didn't occur to me. I always asked myself why it didn't work out. I was very frustrated in such moments. I knew I had a chance to win the championship and I couldn't just give up if something didn't work out. It's a very unpleasant feeling and suddenly it turned into a negative spiral. I worked a lot with people outside of Formula 1 to achieve a more effective mental approach. And it helped me drive the way I wanted to. It didn't just make me faster, it just allowed me to drive the way I really can," Norris said.
