The winner of the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix has been determined. According to Sport24.az, Italian driver Kimi Antonelli, who started the race from pole position, crossed the finish line first.
Thanks to this victory, Antonelli has risen to the top of the championship standings, surpassing his teammate George Russell. The 19-year-old driver, with 72 points, has become the youngest championship leader in Formula 1 history by topping the drivers' standings.
McLaren driver Oscar Piastri finished the race in second place, earning his first points of the season. Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc finished third, completing the podium.
As for other results, George Russell in Mercedes finished the race in 4th place, Lando Norris in McLaren in 5th, and Lewis Hamilton in Ferrari in 6th.
Dutchman Max Verstappen, who started the race in 11th place with the Red Bull team, finished 8th.
Oliver Bearman in Haas was unable to continue the race due to an accident. Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll stopped competing early due to technical problems.
It should be noted that the Formula 1 season, with the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix removed from the calendar for safety reasons, will continue with the Miami Grand Prix on May 3.
