"Mercedes" driver George Russell spoke about the difficulties he faced in the first races of the "Formula 1" season. The British driver, who finished fourth at the Japanese Grand Prix, also lost his championship lead after his teammate Kimi Antonelli won.
Idman.Biz reports that Russell did not hide that he was tired of struggling with technical problems for two consecutive race weekends. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the sudden loss of the W17 car's excellent performance in practice sessions during qualifying laps.
In a statement to the press, Russell emphasized that he was unlucky and that all technical malfunctions occurred precisely in his car:
"Right now, I feel like every problem that has arisen in the last two weekends is on my side, and I'm enduring these pains. This is just the process, I can't give another explanation. We haven't had any problems in practice this season, but all the malfunctions find me in qualifying laps."
After a technical malfunction in China, Russell, who was second in qualifying in Japan, dropped to fourth in the race. After this result, young Italian talent Kimi Antonelli took the lead in the championship. But Russell is still optimistic:
"It's just a matter of luck. Only the third of the season's 22 races is over. I have no worries, there's a long year ahead. I know we have the strength to come back."
It should be noted that a fierce struggle continues in the "Formula 1" world championship, and the competition between "Mercedes" drivers is considered one of the main events of this season.
