The International Automobile Federation (FIA) has issued an official statement regarding criticism of the 2026 technical regulations after the severe accident involving Haas driver Oliver Bearman at the Japanese Grand Prix.
Idman.Biz reports that the organization emphasized that it has been in constant discussions with teams, engine manufacturers, drivers, and Formula 1 management since the introduction of the new regulations. The statement noted that the regulations initially provide for a number of adjustable parameters that can be optimized based on real data, especially in the area of energy management.
The Federation announced that the rules would be reviewed in a structured manner after the initial phase of the season. A series of meetings scheduled in April will assess the effectiveness of the new regulations and discuss whether possible changes are needed.
The FIA noted that any adjustments require rigorous analysis and modeling, and that safety remains a priority for the organization:
"At this stage, it is too early to speculate on the nature of possible changes. Further information will be provided later."
It should be recalled that the difficulties in reducing the speed of the car during Bearman's accident raised questions about the effectiveness of the new aerodynamic and energy systems.
