Leicester captain Jamie Vardy, whose team is confirmed to be leaving the Premier League and dropping into the Championship next season, shared his thoughts on the matter.
QOL.az reports that the English striker wrote in a post on his social media account that leaving the elite division was embarrassing for him:
"I don't even know what to say right now. I can't express in words the feelings of anger and sadness I have about the journey we have been on this season. There are no excuses. As a team, players, and club, we failed. There is nothing to hide. This is a completely embarrassing thing for me personally."
The 38-year-old footballer apologized to the fans: "We have had many great achievements and successes at this club for a long time. This season has been nothing but misfortune. I apologize to the fans. Unfortunately, we could not stay in the Premier League. We apologize for ending the season in such a bad situation."
It should be noted that it has already been confirmed that Leicester, who became the English champion for the first time in their history in the 2015/2016 season, will finish this season in the bottom 3. The team is in 19th place with 18 points after 33 rounds.
