UEFA could exclude "Barcelona" from the Champions League due to the bribery of the former vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA), Jose Maria Negreira.
Idman.Biz reports that the El Confidental newspaper reported this.
According to the source, the club could be fined 60 million euros for financial fraud and prevented from returning to the Camp Nou stadium. It is noted that "Barcelona" president Joan Laporta was forced to withdraw from the Super League project and return to the European Club Association in order to improve relations with UEFA.
It should be reminded that in 2023, "Blaugrana" was accused of bribery related to payments to Negreira, who worked at the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). "Barcelona" was accused of making the above-mentioned payments in the amount of approximately 8.4 million euros between 2001-2018.
According to the Catalan club, Negreira was hired as an external consultant to prepare technical reports on refereeing. The former CTA vice-president denies that he took bribes to influence referees.
