UEFA has not granted the appeal of the Portuguese club Benfica regarding the disqualification of their Argentinian footballer, Gianluca Prestianni.
"Report" reports that the organization's press service has released information about this.
It was reported that the UEFA Ethics, Control, and Disciplinary Committee found the footballer guilty of violating disciplinary rules due to discriminatory behavior, removing him from the return leg of the Champions League Round of 16 match against Real Madrid.
The incident occurred during the first match in Lisbon. The match ended with a 1-0 victory for the Madrid team. After scoring the only goal, Real's forward Vinicius Junior ran towards the stands and made gestures. Later, the footballer stated in an appeal to the referee that he had been subjected to racist insults.
According to Spanish media, it is believed that the unpleasant expressions were made by a Benfica player. The game was stopped for about 10 minutes due to the incident.
At the end of the match, various objects, including glass bottles and electronic cigarettes, were thrown onto the field by fans of the Portuguese club.
The return match between Real Madrid and Benfica will be held in Madrid tonight.
