Barcelona complained to UEFA about Istvan Kovacs, the referee of the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Atletico. Sport24.az reports that the organization's Disciplinary Committee has rejected the Catalans' complaint.
UEFA's statement noted:
"Barcelona's complaint against the referee after last week's game against Atletico is inadmissible."
Earlier, the Spanish press reported that the referee would no longer be appointed to Champions League matches this season.
In the Barcelona - Atletico match (0:2), the home side's defender Pau Cubarsi received a red card. The club complained about this and the fact that in the second half, opponent Mark Pubill handled the ball in the penalty area, but the referee did not award a penalty.
The return match between the teams will take place today at 23:00.
