Maxim Mitrofanov, Secretary General of the Russian Football Union (RFU), has announced his readiness to appeal to the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) to impose a lifetime ban on businessman Tufan Sadıqov from any football activity in any country.
İdman.biz reports that, based on the results of last season, the "Khimki" club, whose investor is Sadıqov, took 12th place in the RPL.
The club did not receive a license to participate in the tournament in the 2025/26 season. The "Red-Blacks" filed an appeal, but the RFU Appeals Committee upheld the initial decision. After that, the management of "Khimki" announced the termination of the club's activities. It was reported that the club had salary debts to football players last season. On September 9, the Arbitration Court of the Moscow region declared "Khimki" bankrupt.
According to Mitrofanov, a case has now been opened in the RFU Disciplinary Committee (DC) to bring the management of the "Khimki" club to justice based on his appeal.
"Within the framework of this case, the issue related to Mr. Sadıqov will be considered separately. If the DC decides to impose a lifetime ban on any football-related activity, I will send an appeal to FIFA with a request to extend this decision to the entire world of football," the Secretary General said.
Currently, the Azerbaijani businessman is an investor in "Serikspor", which plays in the Turkish First League.
