"It was a good season for me too."
This was stated by Sabah club's Polish right-back Timoteusz Puchacz in an interview with AZERTAC after the final of the Azerbaijan Cup.
We present that interview.
- You won the title by defeating Zira 2:1 in the final. What are your thoughts on the game?
- I think we were the superior side throughout the match. Sabah was the team that controlled the game in both the first and second halves. The opponent mainly preferred defense. We showed more quality football on the field and proved it by winning the cup. Winning the final was very important for us and we are happy for that.
- You secured the championship in the Premier League ahead of time, and then won the cup. How do you evaluate the season?
- I think we were the best team in the country this season. We showed it in both the championship and the cup. The team had a specific plan and goal from the beginning of the season. The players, coaching staff and the entire team worked as one team. As a result, we made a "golden double". I think we fully deserved this success.
- "Sabah" will participate in the qualifying stage of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in its history. What do you think about it?
- Interesting and responsible games await us. Participating in the Champions League is a special motivation for every football player. We will prepare seriously for these matches and I hope that we can advance to the league stage. We have a good team and I think we can achieve successful results. Of course, in football, everything depends on hard work and a bit of luck.
- How do you evaluate your personal performance during the season?
- It was a good season for me too. I made a lot of productive passes, tried to benefit the team. But the most important thing is collective success. Frankly, I think that every football player in our team performed at a high level this season. Even if the symbolic team of the league is formed, there will be 11 players from Sabah there. We try to improve in training every day and we see the result on the field.
- What can you say about the atmosphere at the final match?
- The atmosphere was great. The support of the fans gave us extra motivation. We felt that everyone wanted to win. Frankly, the atmosphere reminded me of Champions League games. We know that such an atmosphere awaits us in Europe next season as well, and this is very gratifying.
