La Liga president Javier Tebas says the English Premier League has spent twice as much as it needed to over the past 7 seasons.
Idman.biz reports that Tebas said this causes inflation and affects world football as a whole.
He said that with a turnover of approximately 4 billion euros, the Premier League's expenses should be 1.4 billion euros, but this season it has reached 4 billion euros.
"Where did these 2.5 billion euros come from? This is a loss. If you pay more than you need, it means you are at a loss. This leads to inflation and affects us all, because the market is global," Tebas noted.
He emphasized that, unlike England, La Liga and Bundesliga do not intend to operate at a loss. Tebas also noted that the Premier League lost 1.2 billion euros last year, and the government's intervention in English football only emphasizes the seriousness of the situation.
"We are taking important steps to ensure the sustainability of Spanish football. Our clubs are competitive and economically stable," Tebas concluded.
