La Liga president Javier Tebas stated on social media that the project had effectively ended in response to Real Madrid's decision to reach an agreement with UEFA regarding the European Super League.
"Less than 90 days ago, Florentino Perez claimed that reaching an agreement with UEFA would be practically a capitulation. Now the usual phase begins: building a story through the media to present the retreat as a strategic victory. The problem is not the change. The problem is denying that the change has occurred. When you are a true leader, you don't need to rewrite what was said 90 days ago. It was impossible to compete with yourself," Tebas wrote on social media.

Real Madrid announced on its official website that it had reached an agreement with UEFA regarding the operation of the European Super League.
İdman.Biz reports that the Madrid club was previously the most vocal proponent of the necessity of this tournament.
"UEFA, European football clubs, and Real Madrid have reached an agreement for the benefit of European club football.
After several months of discussions in the interests of European football, UEFA, the European Football Clubs Association (EFC), and Real Madrid announce that they have agreed on principles that promote the well-being of European club football, support the principle of sporting merit with an emphasis on the long-term sustainability of clubs, and improve the fan experience through the use of technology.
This agreement will, in principle, also serve to resolve legal disputes relating to the European Super League once these principles have been implemented and applied," the Los Blancos statement said.
