"The main goal set by the management at the beginning of the season was to maintain our place in the Premier League, and at the same time, to be placed as high as possible in the tournament table. I think we have achieved our goals."
These words were said by Elchin Usub, chairman of the Board of Directors of the "Shamakhi" club.
The club official also touched upon the news that head coach Aykhan Abbasov will leave the team at the end of the season and said that he did not want to comment on it yet.
"Ayxan Abbasov will be in charge of the team until the end of the season. Official information will be provided when a decision is made regarding the new head coach," he said in a statement to AZERTAC.
E.Usub also spoke about "Shamakhi"'s goals for the next season:
"Considering the current reality, the goal of staying in the Premier League will be set for the team in the new season as well. If new sponsors are attracted to the club, then it will be possible to talk about other goals."
Speaking about the future of "Shamakhi"'s leading football player Karim Rossi, the club official emphasized that it will be clear at the end of the season whether the Swiss striker, whose contract is expiring, will stay in the team.
It should be noted that "Shamakhi" is currently in eighth place in the tournament table with 35 points.
