FIFA is considering postponing the intercontinental play-off matches scheduled to be held in Mexico. Sport24.az reports with reference to "The Athletic" that the matches of the World Cup, scheduled to be held in the USA, Mexico and Canada from June 11 to July 19, are also in danger.
The postponement of matches will be considered if security officials and commercial partners express serious concerns. Riots continue in Mexico after the assassination of the leader of a drug cartel. Armed men are resisting law enforcement agencies, which leads to riots and shootings.
It should be noted that the play-off matches for a ticket to the world championship between Jamaica, Congo and New Caledonia will be held between March 26-31. The situation is complicated by the fact that tens of thousands of fans have already bought tickets and booked hotels for the final stage. If the tournament is postponed, FIFA will be obliged to pay compensation to the fans.
