Senegal, who won the Africa Cup of Nations final against Morocco, has been handed a technical defeat.
"Report" reports that the decision was made by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The reason given was that the Senegalese team, led by head coach Pape Thiaw, left the field for a period of time during the final match.
Specifically, Ismaila Sarr's goal in the final match was disallowed after a controversial incident. A few minutes later, a penalty was awarded to Morocco following VAR intervention. This led to strong protests from the Senegalese team. As a result, Morocco sent a letter of complaint to CAF.
The CAF Appeals Board assessed the incident during the game as a negative event and revoked Senegal's championship. According to the new decision, the cup will be taken from Senegal and awarded to Morocco.
