The Senegal Football Federation (FSF) has issued a statement regarding the decision of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to strip the team of its title as winner of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
"Report" reports, citing the official FSF website, that the Senegalese side called the decision unfair and unacceptable.
However, the CAF Appeals Committee upheld the complaint of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF). The decision stated that the behavior of the Senegalese national team violated articles 82 and 84 of the regulations. As a result, the previous decision was overturned, and Senegal was given a 0:3 technical defeat. Thus, the championship title was transferred to Morocco.
In a statement, the Senegal Football Federation strongly condemned the decision, stating that it was a move that discredited African football. The FSF stated that it remains committed to the values of integrity and sports justice and will keep the public informed of developments.
It should be noted that in the final match held in Rabat on January 18, 2026, the Senegalese left the field in protest against the penalty awarded to their goal. After a break of about 15 minutes, the team returned and saved the penalty thanks to goalkeeper Eduar Mendy, and Pape Gueye's goal in extra time secured a 1-0 victory.
