On July 9 last year, an independent FA (Football Association) commission found Ryan Bowman guilty of betting on matches. Sport24.az reports with reference to the British press that the Cheltenham Town striker has been banned from football for 42 months. In the last ten years, Ryan has placed 6,397 bets.
Bowman began his professional football career at the Carlisle United academy. Unable to prove himself in big football, he moved to Darlington, who play in the fifth division of England. He then spent a season in the Second League with York City and even scored eight goals. However, he then signed with Torquay United, and it later became known that it was at this club that he began betting on games.
In 2015, Bowman had the best season of his career at Gateshead: 16 goals and seven assists. During his time at the club, Ryan bet on 191 matches. After playing for three years at Motherwell, who play in the Scottish Premier League, the striker moved to Second League side Exeter City. It has been confirmed that the footballer, who scored 34 goals in 112 matches for this team, bet on 2,816 games (108 of which were his own team's games).
