The Swedish Football Association (SvFF) has published the national team squad for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held this summer in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, on its official website.
İdman.Biz introduces you to the squad:
Goalkeepers: Viktor Johansson (Stoke City), Kristoffer Nordfeldt (AIK), Jakob Zetterström (Derby County).
Defenders: Hjalmar Ekdal (Burnley), Gabriel Gudmundsson (Leeds United), Isak Hien (Atalanta), Emil Holm (Juventus), Gustaf Lagerbielke (Braga), Victor Lindelöf (Aston Villa), Eric Smith (St. Pauli), Carl Starfelt (Celta Vigo), Elliot Strand (Mjöby), Daniel Svensson (Borussia Dortmund).
Midfielders: Taha Ali (Malmö), Yassin Ayari (Brighton), Lucas Bergvall (Tottenham), Jesper Karlström (Udinese), Ken Sema (Pafos), Mattias Svanberg (Wolfsburg), Besfort Zeneli (Union).
Forwards: Alexander Bernhardsson (Holstein), Anthony Elanga (Newcastle United), Viktor Gyökeres (Arsenal), Alexander Isak (Liverpool), Gustav Nilsson (Club Brugge), Benjamin Nygren (Celtic).
It should be noted that Barcelona forward Runi Bardghji, Tottenham midfielder Dejan Kulusevski, and several other star players have been left out of the squad. Kulusevski has been out since May 2025 due to a knee injury, and Bardghji's absence from the squad is most likely due to his lack of regular playing time at the Catalan club.
