Italian Rolando Maran has been appointed as the new head coach of the Albanian national team. Sport24.az reports that the local federation's press service has released information about this.
The Albanian Football Federation parted ways with its previous coach, Silvinho. The Brazilian specialist had been leading the team since January 2023.
During his coaching career, Maran has managed clubs such as Brescia, Vicenza, Catania, Chievo, Cagliari, Genoa, and Pisa. The 62-year-old specialist has been unemployed since July 2025. His contract with Albania is scheduled until the summer of 2027.
It should be noted that Albania failed to qualify for the World Cup, losing in the play-off round of the WC-2026 qualifiers. In the fall, Maran's team will play in League C of the League of Nations, and their opponents in Group 1 will be Belarus, San Marino, and Finland.
