Following Thomas Frank's dismissal, Ange Postecoglou has harshly criticized "Tottenham", questioning the club's ambitions.
According to Lent.az, citing foreign media, the former head coach of the London club, who led the team to victory in the Europa League just a season ago, openly stated that "Tottenham"'s spending structure and approach to transfers do not make it a big club in the true sense of the word.
"When you look at the salaries, it's not a top club. After my first season, they demanded not only fifth place but also a fight for the title. This meant they needed players ready to compete at the Premier League level.
In the end, we signed Solanke, who I liked, and three teenagers. I liked Neta, Mbemo, Semeno, and Gehi," Postecoglou said.
His words have reignited discussions about what "Tottenham" really wants to be. Under Postecoglou's leadership, the club won its first European Cup in decades and qualified for the Champions League, but his cautious transfer policy - relying on experienced strikers and promising young players instead of stars - suggests a different scale of ambition.
Pressure on the management is only increasing with Frank's dismissal. The question remains: does "Tottenham" really want to compete with the elite - or do they just appear to be what they are?
