Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola could switch to working with a national team and become the head coach of the Italian national team.
Lent.az reports that, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Spanish coach is open to this option after the end of this season. He believes that working with a national team would allow him to operate more comfortably compared to club football.
The appointment is also supported within the team. Former Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci noted:
"If there is a desire to start from scratch, I would prefer Guardiola. It is difficult to achieve, but we dream of having such a coach."
Manchester City are ready to accept any decision made by the head coach. If he leaves, former Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca, with whom preliminary talks have been held, could take over.
The Italian national team has failed to qualify for the World Cup for the third consecutive season and lost to Bosnia and Herzegovina on penalties.
