Benfica captain Nicolas Otamendi commented on the 2:3 defeat to Qarabağ in Lisbon in the opening match of the Champions League main stage. Sport24.az reports that the Argentine footballer, speaking to O Jogo, said that they had to apologize to their fans for losing to the Aghdam club:
"This is a painful result. We all have to criticize ourselves. Now is not the time to point fingers at anyone, it is time to react. The season has just started and the road will be long. Even if we won, no one could guarantee that we would advance to the next stage. We have to apologize to those who came to the stadium, paying money for tickets to watch us. Unfortunately, we lost in the end, being 2:0 ahead. If you concede a goal from a set piece, it always ends with bad results."
It should be noted that "Qarabağ" will host "Copenhagen" on October 1 as part of the 2nd round. "Benfica" will be a guest of "Chelsea" on September 30.
