Neymar, Brazil's all-time leading scorer, has spoken out about the negative impact of changes in modern football on individual skill and dribbling. The experienced forward believes that excessive emphasis on physical fitness is putting a generation of technically gifted players at risk of extinction.
Idman.Biz reports with reference to "The Touchline" that Neymar stated that football is now more about power and intensity.
"Football has changed. Now it's all about power and intensity. That's why we're losing a generation of footballers who are particularly skilled at handling the ball - dribbling masters. Today we see very few players of this type: Vinicius, Rodrigo, Cherki. I can't name many more. When you start working on increasing power, you lose part of your skill. Football has become a very physical sport," the forward added.
It should be noted that the 34-year-old Neymar has scored 79 goals for the Brazilian national team.
