Everton and Senegal striker Iliman Ndiaye has shared his thoughts on Real Madrid and Morocco midfielder Brahim Dias' penalty kick in the Africa Cup of Nations final.
Idman.Biz reports that Senegal defeated Morocco 1-0 in extra time. In the 24th minute of extra time, Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy saved Brahim's 'Panenka' style penalty kick. A dispute arose regarding the penalty kick before the shot, which caused Senegal to leave the field.
"I felt a bit of disrespect towards myself. I'm not saying he wanted to offend us, but maybe he wanted to show off after what happened. I don't know if I would have taken such a risk. But he was only a few minutes away from being the king of his country. They hadn't won for years, and all we could do was take our chances and score.
"I thought to myself, 'Yes, he won't score, he won't score.' And he didn't score. And we didn't react. We kept playing. So I don't understand why he did it, but I'm glad he did. I think we knew we were going to win after that," The Times quotes Ndiaye as saying.
