The head coach of the Portuguese football club Benfica, Jose Mourinho, has announced that he will make a decision about his future after the end of the season.
Idman.Biz reports that the 63-year-old specialist has confirmed that he has received a new contract offer from the Lisbon representative. According to Mourinho, the offer was submitted to his agent on Wednesday, but the Portuguese coach has not yet wanted to look at the document.
"Yes, I received a new contract offer from Benfica on Wednesday. But I said: not now. We'll see on Sunday. Next week will be important for my future," said Mourinho.
The Portuguese coach also touched on allegations about Real Madrid. Although he did not say that he had received an official offer from the Madrid club, he stressed that next week will be important for both himself and Benfica. Spanish media reports that negotiations for Mourinho's return to Real Madrid are progressing.
Mourinho also emphasized that Benfica is bigger than everyone:
"I see no reason to worry about my personal situation. No one should worry about someone leaving or not leaving. Because Benfica is bigger than everyone."
The experienced specialist also commented on the tension between Real Madrid football team head coach Alvaro Arbeloa and Kilian Mbappe. Mourinho called Arbeloa his friend and said that as a football player he once gave his "soul and spirit" for himself.
"It makes me sad. Because Arbeloa is my friend. He was one of those who gave everything when he was my player. Now that he is the head coach of Real Madrid, our relationship is even stronger. I want his affairs to go well," Mourinho added.
